Description

Before us is a petition for review filed by Fatmata Kaita, a native and citizen of Sierra Leone, of the decision of the Board of Immigration Appeals ("BIA") denying her claims for asylum, withholding of removal, and CAT protection on the basis of the adverse credibility finding made by the Immigration Judge ("IJ"). Kaita claims that she was persecuted and tortured by the rebels who came to power in Sierra Leone in the 1990s. We must decide whether the IJs finding is supported by substantial evidence, as well as whether that finding was affected by the IJs frequent interruptions during the removal hearing and the apparent translation problems during Kaitas testimony.
